The Crisis of Leadership in a Party Built to Lead
The American public has been reduced to spectators in a never-ending cycle of partisan performance — while the real crises facing working families are ignored.
Nowhere is this failure more visible than in Washington, where too many in the Democratic Party — the party that once championed working people, civil rights, and justice — have become more focused on performing for cameras and social media than delivering results. We were once the party of bold legislation. Now we are often the party of stalled bills, click bait headlines, and squandered majorities.
While people are struggling to afford healthcare, facing broken immigration systems, watching wages stagnate, and experiencing an economic disaster, Congress is stuck in a self-made gridlock. What we hear instead are carefully rehearsed talking points, staged viral moments, and political calculations that serve donors, not the working class.
The truth is hard to hear, but it’s simple: The Democratic Party is failing to lead.
We’ve allowed fear of political backlash to outweigh the urgency of a proper response. We’ve ceded the ground of principled leadership in favor of endless caution. Our communities don’t need more press conferences; they need legislation that helps them survive and thrive.
Where is the healthcare reform we promised?
Where is the immigration system that protects families and honors our nation's history?
Where is the economic policy that lifts the working class instead of protecting corporate profits?
Instead of addressing these urgent needs head-on, many Democratic leaders are playing it safe — or worse, playing it small. In a moment that demands courage, we’ve gotten complacency. In a time that cries out for action, we’ve given America a waiting game.
I've been asked why I am running for Congress. My answer has always been short: To break the status quo of what is representation in Washinton.
This campaign is for those that work two jobs to afford insulin. The Dreamers who still don’t know if they’ll be safe tomorrow. The single parents trying to keep the lights on and the kids in school. The ones who are told to wait for progress, year after year, election after election.
Today's landscape demands more than bold campaign promises, we need those who govern with bold action.
Those who seek public office can no longer be the status quo. We need those that deliver, not distract! We need those that choose courage over comfort and results over rhetoric. But it will take all of us — standing up, speaking out, and demanding policies and leadership that serves working class Americans, not the well connected.
It's time to role up our sleeves.
It's time to take nots.
It's time to work.
It's time to build something better!
